Key Conference Highlights – Local HIV/AIDS advocate, Jasmin D. Shirley, MSPH will give us an update on how Broward county is addressing the HIV/AIDS crisis during lunch on Thursday. And on Friday morning, Congressman Alcee Hastings will address conference attendees during the Prayer Breakfast, accompanied by a local choir.
Special event highlightsinclude a lavish Sunset Yacht Dinner Cruise aboard theAnticipation IV on Thursday evening, sponsored by Albert Tucker, VP of Multicultural Business Development, Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. On Friday evening, NNPA will host the annual Community Recognition Awards Dinner, where community heroes from Fort Lauderdale will be recognized, including a special honor which will be bestowed upon Levi Henry Jr., founder of the Westside Gazette, Broward County's oldest and largest African American owned and operated newspaper. Following this awards dinner, the group will have a unique and special opportunity to meet and greet members of the Grammy award-winning African American female a cappella ensemble Sweet Honey in the Rock at the well-known Miramar Cultural Center, where we will have dessert and live music.
